Islanders recall Fritz

Swan City native Tanner Fritz has been recalled by the New York Islanders for a second stint with the big club.

The 27-year-old has appeared in four games this season with the Isles, posting one assist. He has three goals and eight points in 38 career NHL games.

In 57 games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers this year, Fritz has 12 goals and 25 assists, tied for fourth in team scoring.

The move comes after the Islanders announced forward Valtteri Filppula would miss the next four weeks with an upper-body injury.
