4 Peace region products have season end in Game 7

It was a heart-breaking end to the season for 4 Peace region hockey players Tuesday night.

Falher product Walker Cote, Beaverlodge native Logan Moon, and Jarrod Isley and Eric Sorenson of Grande Prairie had their hockey season come to an end in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League quarter-finals as their Nipawin Hawks fell in Game seven 4-3 at home to the Yorkton Terriers.

Moon had a goal in the loss.

The win by Yorkton was a significant upset based off of the standings from the regular season.

Nipawin finished the campaign with a 38-15-2-3 record in the regular season which was good for top spot in the league.

The Terriers meanwhile were 31-26-1-0 and qualified for the SJHL Quarter-Finals after they won a three game wild card series over the Notre Dame Hounds.

Both Sorenson and Moon are eligible to return next year for the Hawks.

However, the same can not be said for both Cote and Isley who had their Junior hockey careers come to an end.

Cote, a former member of the Grande Prairie Storm, played three full seasons at the Junior A level and recorded 9 goals and 28 assists.

Isley also played three full seasons of Junior A hockey with stints in Fort McMurray, Alberni Valley, Melfort, Woodstock, Grand Falls and Nipawin.

He finishes his junior career with 8 goals and 17 assists from the back end.
