Sherwood Park officer charged with assault

SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. – A pair of assault charges have been laid against an Edmonton-area RCMP officer.

Mounties say the charges relate to off-duty incidents that allegedly happened between March 2015 and March of this year in Sherwood Park.

Sgt. Michael Bennett of the K Division member operational support system is also charged with uttering threats.

Bennett is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park provincial court on April 3.

He is facing three conditions that include no contact with the complainant, no consumption of intoxicating substances and no firearms.
