Local rink starts national championship chase today

A Grande Prairie curling team starts its chase of a national championship today in Sherwood Park.

The Cortland Sonnenberg rink will be one of two Alberta teams in the boys competition at Under-18 Boys and Girls Curling Championship.

The Sonnenberg team won silver at provincials, but got a spot at nationals because Alberta is hosting the event this year.

They play Nova Scotia in their first game at 6 p.m. tonight.
