Apr 5, 2019 | 6:43 AM

The JDA Kings are off to a flying start at Junior B Provincials in Wetaskiwin.

The swan city bunch earned a 7-4 win over the Calgary Royals Gold Thursday afternoon to open the tournament.

It was a big afternoon for Kings forward Wyatt Lawrence.

The Sexsmith product scored the first 3 goals for the Kings in the back and forth affair and added a 4th into a yawning cage to secure the victory.

The Kings will now look to improve on their 1-0 record Friday night when they battle the Airdrie Thunder at 7:00 p.m.

Airdrie won their opener 4-2 against Beverly.

Meanwhile, the Fort St.John Huskies didn’t have the same luck in their opener of the provincials.

They fell 6-3 to the Wainwright Bisons.

Fort St.John plays their next game at 1:00 p.m. Friday against Coaldale.
