Ritchie Bros. gearing up for largest spring auction yet

Apr 7, 2019 | 7:00 AM

The largest spring auction Ritchie Bros. has ever held is taking place this week.

The event takes place from April 11 – 13, and is expected to feature close to 2,800 items from over 350 sellers.

Regional Sales Manager Terry Moon says people can expect some of everything at this year’s auction.

“This year is probably the best mix of every category we’ve had in the past,” says Moon. “It’s a good selection of everything from gravel trailers, fluid hauling trailers, CATS, excavation tractors…”

Moon notes most of the bidders come from Alberta and B.C. There are also plenty of online bidders from the United States. He explains there is expected to be close to 3,000 on-site bidders and 3,000 – 4,000 online bidders.

Moon says this year’s auction features plenty of hardware because April is a popular time of year for companies to sell off their unwanted equipment.

“April is typically our largest sale of the year, and it has been historically for years back. That’s just when the companies are done their winter’s work and they’re looking forward to what they got coming up in the summer for work, and they’re looking for equipment in the summertime. So, I don’t think it’s any different than normal, just a really nice selection that we have here this time.”

He adds all items are going to be sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.
