Sexsmith product wins AJHL crown

Apr 17, 2019 | 8:25 AM

Carter Wolski and the Brooks Bandits are the Champions of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

They completed the four-game sweep of the Spruce Grove Saints Tuesday night at the Grant Fuhr Arena with a 2-0 win.

Unfortunately for the Sexsmith product, he wasn’t in the line-up for the Bandits as he was serving the 2nd game of a 2-game suspension.

Wolski and the Bandits will have some time to rest before they begin preparations for the Doyle Cup which sees the Champions of the AJHL battle the winners of the BCHL in a 7-game series.

Normally the Doyle Cup would decide a berth at the RBC Cup, but with the Bandits hosting the tournament this year, both clubs will take part in the tournament.

The Bandits opponent in the Doyle Cup has yet to be determined just yet as the Prince George Spruce Kings hold a 3-0 series lead over the Vernon Vipers following a 4-3 overtime win in Game 3 Tuesday night.

Game 4 goes Wednesday night.
