Two Spirit River products help lift Slash to win in opener at Esso Cup

The 2019 Esso Cup is underway in Sudbury, Ontario and the Pacific representatives from St.Albert began their tournament on the right foot.

The Slash claimed a 3-1 win over the Quebec representatives Sunday afternoon.

St.Albert features a pair of peace region products on the blue line.

Tianna Yaremko and Dayle Ross hail from Spirit River and both played a big role in limiting their opponents to just 18 shots in their first game of the tournament.

The two Spirit River products will be back on the ice with the Slash Monday night as they continue round robin play against the host Sudbury Lady Wolves.

Sudbury claimed their opening game 6-2 over Halifax.

The Slash have won the Esso Cup the last two seasons.
