Dream Home Lottery extending hours in last days of ticket purchasing

Apr 23, 2019 | 6:30 AM

It’s the final days of the Dream Home Lottery and the home is extending its hours until Wednesday to help sell the last of its tickets.

Raffle Manager Kevin Hilgers says the tickets are more than 90 percent sold.

“It’s not uncommon for people to wait for the last minute, but of course, as we get closer to the last minute, we start to run out of tickets,” says Hilgers. “We have started to run out of, for instance, the Dream Home Single tickets, we’re about 92 percent. We’ll see what comes first, midnight Wednesday, or selling out.”

Tonight, the home is open until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, the deadline to buy tickets at the home will be midnight.

Hilgers notes currently the Cash Jackpot 50-50 is sitting just shy of $500-thousand, but he’s expecting it to surpass last year’s amount.

“Last year it did sell out at $550-thousand. I suspect we will surpass that. We do have more tickets this year for the 50-50, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the 50-50 is higher than last year’s mark when it sold out at $550-thousand. Maybe it’ll reach up to $575-(thousand) or $600-(thousand), so we’re pretty excited about that.”

The lottery raises funds for a number of organizations throughout the Peace Region, and Hilgers is hopeful the lottery will sell out.

He adds everyone is welcome to the draw this Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dream Home.

The lottery also includes a Cash Cow Calendar Lottery which allows ticket buyers to potentially win up to $10-thousand every weekday in May.

The Grande Prize for the Dream Home Lottery is a home package valued at over $1.4-million in Carriage Lane Estates.
