Calgary police say charges are pending, including a street racing offence, after a pedestrian was killed Monday night.

Officers say a car and a pickup truck were speeding towards a northwest intersection, where the traffic light facing them was red.

The pedestrian was struck and both vehicles fled the scene.

The 38-year-old man, who had been in a crosswalk, died in hospital.

Police say the two alleged drivers, who are believed to know each other, later turned themselves in.

Sgt. Colin Foster says charges are pending against a 19-year-old man, including street racing causing death, hit and run causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
