Stojan named player of the game at Alberta Cup

It was a busy opening day at the Alberta Cup for all of the Peace Region representatives as they took part in two games.

Team Yellow which features Grande Prairie goalie Connor Stojan and Assistant Coach Kyle Weegar dropped their 1st game of the tournament 4-0 but bounced back in the 2nd game as they tied Team Red 2-2.

It was the 2nd game where Stojan got the nod in between the pipes.

He made 26 saves and was named player of the game for his team.

Team Yellow is back on the ice Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Team Blue.

Meanwhile, it was a tough day for Sexsmith’s Ty Doucette and Grande Prairie’s Jaxon Boucher and Lucas Schuett.

Their Team Grey fell 7-1 in their early game to Team Red and dropped a 4-2 decision in their late game to Team Black.

They’ll be back on the ice Friday morning against Team Green.
