Former Mama and Papa’s owners settling in well at new location

“It’s doing absolutely incredible. The support we’re receiving from our old customers and new customers has been overwhelming. The user groups and the users of the facility are pleased that somebody is open during the day, so we’re doing fairly well,” says Walker.

Walker explains the move to the County Sportsplex came about because the ups and downs of the oil and gas industry had an affect on the former Mama and Papa’s restaurant in Clairmont.

“We had decided that the location that we had previously was a great location and everything when the oil and gas sector was doing well, but when it doesn’t do well, we don’t do well because we were right in the heart of it. It was a very, very expensive place, so we decided that we would have to close.”

Walker notes that there was uncertainty around the time Mama and Papa’s closed its doors as the restaurant closed up shop on March 29^th, and Walker and Brunet had discovered they secured their new location on the 28^th. The move came about after Brunet and Walker were approached by a representative from the County Sportsplex asking them to continue working at their facility.

Walker says when they resumed serving the community in their new location on April 11, they were met with a crowd of people who were happy to see the Mama and Papa’s menu being served out of the Over-Time Lounge.

The menu is being served from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
