Red Deer RCMP catch extreme speeders

May 2, 2019 | 6:58 AM

Red Deer RCMP say speeding will continue to be on their radar after catching two motorists recently driving more than 40 km/hr over the posted speed limit.

Last Friday around 10 p.m., Mounties issued a ticket to a motorist driving 146 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on 19 Street west of 30 Avenue, more than double the posted speed limit.

Approximately half an hour later, police issued a second ticket to a different driver for driving 111 km/h in the same area.

“There is no justification for driving at twice the posted speed limit – these drivers are putting everyone around them in danger,” says Sergeant Mike Zufferli, Red Deer RCMP Traffic Unit, in a press release. “Speeding is a serious safety issue, and we continue to work every day to address it through enforcement and education.”
