The GPRC Wolves will be looking for a new Head Coach for their women’s basketball next season.

It was announced Monday morning via the GPRC Wolves facebook page that Mandy Botham has accepted a position at Red Deer College as Head Coach of their women’s basketball program for the 2019-2020 season.

“It was a really difficult decision for me,” stated Botham to EverythingGP. “Having played my college basketball at GPRC and loving the college and the program as much as I do. It was just an exciting opportunity for me, and I felt it was a good step for me in my career.”

Botham has spent the past two seasons coaching at GPRC where the program has been in a re-building stage.

Despite the results not being there, Botham is proud of the athletes and their growth throughout this past season.

“I am proud of the mark I left on the culture of the women’s basketball program. The group of athletes that were there this past season completely bought in to working hard, holding each other accountable, and setting standards in the way we do things.”

When looking back at her time with the Wolves over the past two years, Botham revealed how she couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity GPRC gave her to coach at the ACAC level.

“It was a bit of a dream come true for me to go back there and be a coach. It was always something I would have the opportunity to do and I met some really good people there. My fellow coaching colleagues at GPRC were phenomenal and the athletes I had on the team this year were a great group of young women. I really just enjoyed my time there.”

The Wolves will now be seeking a new Head Coach for the women’s basketball team ahead of the 2019-2020 season.
