Highway 2 partially re-opened between Fairview and Rycroft after vehicle fire

May 9, 2019 | 2:56 PM

UPDATE: As of 3:08 p.m., Fairview RCMP say two lanes have been re-opened to allow both north and southbound traffic to get through. They also remind motorists to slow down for emergency crews on scene. Expect delays during cleanup of the scene.

A semi-truck fire on Highway 2 has forced the closure of the road between Fairview and Rycroft near the Dunvegan Bridge.

Fairview RCMP are on scene, and say the cab of the semi was engulfed in flames upon arrival, but the driver was able to exit without injuries. The road is closed in both directions, and motorists should find an alternate route to take at this time and avoid the area. Updates will be provided once they become available.
