It was another successful turnout for the annual Peace Country Classic and GP Kids Track Meet on Saturday at Legion Field, hosted by the Peace Country Wolves Athletic Club.

155 athletes, from 4-89 years of age took part in the event, coming from all across Northern Alberta.

The day was highlighted by a new record time set in the Men’s 800 metre. Brandon Tufford of the Wolves crossed the finish line with a time of 1:56.0. His teammates, Kobe Grocholski and Chris Nelissen were right behind him, rounding out the podium finish. Grocholski’s time also qualified him for the U18 Nationals in August.

The Saturday event also served as the Zone 8 qualifier for the Alberta 55+ Games, which will be held in Medicine Hat in July. About a dozen athletes will represent the Peace Country at those games.
