FIRE ADVISORY

GP wildfire danger high, Fire Advisory in place

May 13, 2019 | 6:04 AM

The wildfire danger for the Grande Prairie area is high and a fire advisory has been put in place.

This means no new permits will be issued during this time.

Safe wood campfires in campgrounds (within fire rings), backyards, or random camping areas are still allowed. Same goes for Charcoal briquettes, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbecues and catalytic or infrared-style heaters.

If you do have a campfire, you are reminded to never leave it unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished. If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

The Fire Advisory will remain in effect until the dry and windy conditions improve.
