Two deaths believed to be related homicides

After the deaths of two adult males, Beaverlodge RCMP, Western Alberta District GIS, and RCMP Major Crimes South are leading investigations.

At 2:45a.m.on May 17, a male was dropped off at the hospital in Beaverlodge, suffering from serious injuries.

The 48-year-old, identified as Derrick Ferguson, was later pronounced deceased.

At 5:28 that same morning, Beaverlodge RCMP were dispatched to a Horse Lake First Nation residence where a male with severe injuries was found.

EMS assisted, but the 28-year-old male identified as Warren Lonnie Laboucan was also pronounced dead.

After autopsies were completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, it was determined that both deaths were murders.

RCMP believe that these incidents are related and an investigation is ongoing.
