Alex Belzile signs one-year deal with Montreal Canadiens

MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Alex Belzile to a one-year, two-way contract.

The deal will pay Belzile US$700,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 in the American Hockey League with $200,000 in guaranteed salary.

The 27-year-old native of Saint-Eloi, Que., led AHL Laval in scoring last season with 19 goals, 35 assists and 54 points.

Belzile has 118 points (47 goals, 71 assists) and 203 penalty minutes in 219 career AHL games since joining the league in 2012-13.
