Fire Bans

Fire ban expands in County of Grande Prairie

May 30, 2019 | 5:28 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is expanding its fire ban.

It now includes recreational fire pits and restrictions on off-highway vehicle use.

No outdoor fires are permitted and all burn permits are revoked. Gas barbecues are still allowed.

OHV use is restricted on public land.

The County says in a release that violators could be fined $5000 plus have to pay the cost of putting out any fire.

The ban includes Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley

The province has similar OHV restrictions and fire bans in place across the forest protection areas in northern Alberta.
