School Bus Collision

Collision between school bus, semi-trailer reports no major injuries

A collision between a school bus and semi-trailer this morning has reported no injuries.

The collision happened as a First Student Bus that was carrying students and a teacher from St. John Paul II Celtic Academy collided with a portion of the trailer of a semi-truck as it crossed Emerson Trail. The class was on its way to Bear Lake after the field trip had been cancelled last week due to the smoke in the area.

All of the students, the teacher, and the drivers were assessed by emergency personnel quickly at the scene and, at this time, no major injuries have been reported. Some involved were treated for minor injuries. Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools is asking parents to monitor their children for any unusual signs when they return home.

An investigation is underway by the RCMP, district staff, and the transportation company involved in the accident.
