Seven people have been arrested, and 176 charges laid after ALERT and Peace River RCMP seized a dozen firearms, body armour and $200,000 worth of drugs.

At the end of May, a search warrant was executed at a rural property in Peace River.

A variety of drugs were seized, including some unknown substances that will require further testing.

The drugs seized have an estimated street value of $190,00 and include one kilogram of cocaine, 234 grams of methamphetamine, 223 grams of fentanyl, 3.75 litres of GHB and numerous illicit prescription tablets.

Officers also seized $8,905 cash.

The 12 firearms seized included seven handguns, three rifles, and two shotguns. Three sets of body armour, and a large amount of ammunition were also taken from the property. Of the 12 firearms seized, four were previously reported stolen, and two of the handguns also had their serial numbers defaced.

Seven people face a total of 176 counts. They are Bradley Morency (age 38), Richard Zeluf (35), Shauna Pope (35), Alvin Machholz (49), Rhonda Braun (46), Sheldon Lambert (41) and Cheyanne Geissler (18).

“ALERT’s investigation has been ongoing for six months, and the payoff is a substantial win for public safety. A seizure of this many drugs and guns will undoubtedly have a regional impact,” said Cpl. James Ries, ALERT Grande Prairie.
