5th Annual Try-It Day a huge success

The Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection held its 5th annual Try-It Day this past weekend despite the wet and soggy conditions.

Executive Director of the Connection Karna Germsheid revealed to EverythingGP that the day was a huge success.

“It was a thrilling success. We were concerned, though, about the outdoor sports and whether or not the parents would bring their kids out, but they were out in droves on Saturday.”

This year’s event saw more than 20 sports organizations providing sessions during the event Saturday and, as a result, numbers were on the rise for this year’s edition.

“Numbers-wise, it is up from last were. We had over 500 registered, which is fantastic. We haven’t looked just yet about attendance numbers, but it appears to be around the same as last year or more,” said Germsheid

One of the things which sparked more interested this time around was the new sports added and, as Germsheid shared, they were all met with positive reviews.

“We have had people that have had their kids in right from the beginning. They watch for when registration is open, and they love seeing the new sports come in.”

The free event provided youth in Grande Prairie aged 6-12 the chance to try and learn about new sports which they may not be familiar with.
