Jun 17, 2019 | 4:21 PM

UPDATE: The new fire has now burned eight hectares.

Air tankers are fighting a new wildfire found in the Slave Lake area Monday.

It has burned three hectares and is located two kilometres south of Widewater and Canyon Creek.

This is the second new fire to start in as many days in the Slave Lake Forest Area.

Another one that started Sunday 22 kilometres northeast of Red Earth Creek is under control and burned less than a hectare .

Fire watchers also say there are 555 firefighters and support staff, 44 choppers, air tankers, and 41 pieces of heavy equipment working on the McMillan Complex fires.

One of the three is still out of control at over 265,000 hectares .

The other two are under control. One burned 137 hectares and has since been overtaken by the first one. The third burned two hectares.

Officials say the biggest fire is getting bigger because of the hot weather and dry conditions. Helicopters and air tankers are working to limit the spread.
