Teenage girl charged with Manslaughter, Arson in death of Swan River woman
The RCMP Major Crimes North Unit has ruled a residential trailer fire that took the life of a woman on the Swan River Reserve back in April was in fact an act of arson, and a teenage girl is facing charges.
The Chief Medical Examiners office ruled through an autopsy that the woman died of smoke inhalation, after her trailer caught fire on April 23.
A 15-year-old girl from Swan River was brought into custody on June 18 and faces charges of Manslaughter and Arson with disregard for human life. She has been released from custody and is to appear in Slave Lake Provincial Court on July 10.
The name of the accused, nor the name of the victim will be released by RCMP.
