RCMP investigating after swan spooking incident on Crystal Lake

Residents are outraged after Facebook videos and pictures show what appears to be a man shooting a flare or fireworks at a swan, her five young ones and a goose.

RCMP in Grande Prairie have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

“I don’t have any further details about the incident at this moment, but can confirm police are aware of this incident and are exploring all investigative avenues,” Cpl. Maria Ogden said in an email to Everything GP.

The videos and pictures were posted to Facebook Tuesday. The incident happened in the Crystal Lake neighbourhood.

In one of the videos you can hear someone yelling in the back ground, ” yeah you son of a b**ch, get out of here! Get out of here!”

Everything GP has also reached out to Alberta Fish and Wildlife and we are still awaiting a response from them.

Reportedly, none of the birds were hurt in the incident, but startled to say the least.
