The Grande Prairie Storm have added some local content ahead of the 2019-2020 AJHL season.

The team announced Thursday the signing of 2001-born forward Edge Lambert, a native of Grande Prairie.

Lambert spent last season as the captain of the Grande Peace Athletic Club’s Midget AAA team. The 6’2” forward led the team with 21 goals and 14 assists, leading the squad to a 17-13-4 record, good for third place in the AMHL Dodge (North) Division. Lambert added 4 goals and 4 assists in the playoffs, before falling to the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers in the second round.

He also appeared in two games with the Storm last season, netting one assist in that time.

“I have watched Edge grow year after year into a complete player. I think playing midget in his final year was great for his development. He played on a strong team with a lot of confidence last year and learned to lead,” said Storm Head Coach Matt Keillor. “This will really help his transition into junior hockey next year where he can be comfortable.”

Previous to joining the GPAC Midget team, Lambert had spent time with the Notre Dame Hounds Bantam and Midget AAA teams. He also appeared in two games for the WHL’s Prince George Cougars back in 2017-18.

Lambert and the rest of the Storm will be back on the ice for the start of main camp on August 16.
