Man rushed to hospital after he was struck by train in Whitecourt

A man is in hospital in Edmonton after being struck by a train in Whitecourt.

It happened last evening around 8 p.m. near 50^th Avenue.

When RCMP arrived at the scene they located a 45-year-old male with serious injuries.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but police do believe drugs and/or alcohol were factors in this incident.

The train crew was not injured and has been offered support through Whitecourt Victim Support Services.

The investigation is ongoing.
