Volunteers Needed For Fast Pitch Nationals

Plans are starting to ramp up for the 2019 Men’s and Master Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship.

The event is slated to go August 28 to September 1st at South Bear Creek Park here in Grande Prairie, with a total of 16 teams slated to take part.

Local host committee chair Paul Therrien says their next big step is to get the 80-100 volunteers needed to host the event.

“We are kind of in a position that we now know what the tournament is going to look like, what the schedule more or less looks like. So now we are trying to fill our venue and event with enough volunteers to make sure that it runs smoothly.”

Therrien adds they are looking for volunteers in a number of areas.

“Working the gate where people come in. HAving people be able to work our beer gardens, to people who are able to help out with security. And people looking to help out with scorekeeping.”

Therrien also says they will need some volunteers for before the tournament starts, as well as people able to work during the day or evenings during the tournament.
