Mets pick up win at home on Canada Day

Jul 2, 2019 | 7:45 AM

It was a defensive duel out in Manning on Canada Day as the Mets played host to the Peace Rive Stampeders.

The hometown Mets would score a pair of runs in the opening inning to take an early lead and that is all they would need as they hung on for a 2-1 win.

Manning earned the win at home Monday despite just registering 2 hits in 7 innings.

With the win, the Mets improve to 5-6 on the season and are now tied for 3rd place with the Rycroft Rage.

Peace River meanwhile drops to 7-6 with the loss and are just a game ahead of both the Rage and Mets for 2nd.

League play will resume Tuesday night with a pair of contests.

The County Brewers will travel to Rycroft for a re-match with the Rage. Rycroft snapped the Brewers 9 game winning streak on Thursday.

Elsewhere, the Manning Mets will host the Grimshaw Huskies.

Both contests are slated for 7:15 p.m.
