Fatal collision on Highway 40 leads to closure

A fatal motor vehicle collision has closed Highway 40, south of Township Road 700.

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP say the collision involved a semi truck and another vehicle. The semi truck is currently blocking the highway in both directions.

RCMP are currently diverting traffic away from the area and they advise motorists to consider choosing an alternate route. There is currently no timeline for when the highway will re-open.

The Grovedale Fire Department says in a Facebook post that drivers can expect the highway to be closed for the next 3-4 hours.
