Safety City Summer Tuesdays return this week

Jul 7, 2019 | 7:00 AM

Safety City Summer Tuesdays are set to return this week, put on by Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities.

First up is Bicycle Safety Day this Tuesday (July 9), which is being offered as a chance for kids to learn the rules of the road while riding in a realistic urban setting, just with shorter buildings and less angry drivers.

Acting Executive Director of GP and Area Safe Communities Cindy Blinston shares what else families can expect.

“Ernie’s Sports Experts is sending one of their bike mechanics to go over the bikes that are there. We should also have some bike registration forms, to help people register their bikes with the city,” said Blinston. “There will also be some egg helmet drops. Just a variety of fun things for families, as well as some safety learning.”

That event is the first of five slated throughout July and August. Other offerings include:

  • Emergencies Day (July 23)
  • Outdoor Safety Day (July 30)
  • Agriculture Safety Day (August 13)
  • Back to School safety Day (August 20)

Each event costs $2 per person and runs from noon to 3 p.m. at Safety City, located at 92 street and 104 Avenue.

Registration is not required prior to the event.
