Watson, Culling advance at Stampede rodeo

Two of the three BC Peace cowboys compting at the Calgary Stampede rodeo will advance directly to Sunday’s final.

Jake Watson of Hudson’s Hope recorded an 84.5 in the final go round of Pool A saddle broncs Monday afternoon.

That was good for fifth on the day and second overall.

Stephen Culling had a 4.3 second stime in steer wrestling, leaving him fifth on the day and fourth overall.

Clayton Moore of Pouce Coupe had a 3.8 second time Monday, good for second on the day and ninth overall.

The top four in each pool go directly to the final on Sunday, with the others competing for a wild card spot Saturday.

Also Monday, Slave Lake’s Landon Horsley finished first in junior steer riding with a 74.5.

Braxton Rowe of Worsley was bucked off.
