Whitecourt RCMP nab suspect tied to two separate break and enters

Whitecourt RCMP have charged a suspect related to two separate break-and-enters in the city.

Officers responded to a break and enter at the Canadian Tire on July 3, where it was found numerous tools and a BB gun had been stolen.

RCMP then responded to another break and enter on July 6, this time at the First Choice Husky. In this case, cigarettes were stolen.

As a result, an investigation led to the arrest of 21-year-old Whitecourt native Cavan Watt. Watt has been charged with:

  • Break and enter to a business
  • Break and enter to steal a firearm
  • Adult disguised with intent to commit an offence
  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking

Watt has been released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Whitecourt Provincial Court on August 13.
