Jul 9, 2019 | 7:27 AM

The final week of the Wheatbelt Baseball League season kicked off Monday night as the Peace River Stampeders traveled to Grimshaw to meet the Huskies.

Monday’s game was a crucial one for the Stampeders as they went into the contest in a three-way tie for 2nd place in the league standings with the Manning Mets and Rycroft Rage.

A steady offence helped pace the Stamps to a 9-5 win.

Peace River would score 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 6th, and 3 in the 7th to earn their 8th win of the season.

The Stamps now own an 8-7 record and are a half game ahead of both the Rycroft Rage and the Manning Mets for 2nd place.

Rycroft will have a chance to pull even with the Stampeders Tuesday night when they visit the Grimshaw Huskies who are now 4-11 on the year.

First pitch is slated for 7:15 p.m.
