Former Storm Head Coach named to World Junior A Challenge Coaching Staff
Hockey Canada announced their Coaching Staffs Thursday night for both Team Canada East and Team Canada West for the 2019 World Junior A Challenge and a familiar face to the Peace Country was announced as an Assistant Coach.
Former Grande Prairie Storm Head Coach and Fort St.John product Mike Vandekamp has been named as Assistant Coach of Team Canada West.
Vandekamp, who is the current Head Coach and General Manager of the BCHL’s Cowichan Valley Capitals will be joined by Joe Martin, who will serve as Head Coach and Scott Barney who will be the other Assistant.
Vandekamp was Head Coach of the Grande Prairie Storm from 2007-2011 and won a league championship in 2009.
