The Hybrid wins Grande Prairie Derby

It was a beautiful weekend for horse racing out at Evergreen Park and it was highlighted by the annual Grande Prairie Derby on Sunday.

The 2019 winner of the GP derby hails from the Swan City.

The Hybrid, co-owned by locals Jason and Kelsey Coney out-raced four others in the one-mile race Sunday and claimed the purse of $7,287, trophy, and blanket.

Trevor Smith was in the saddle for the win.

The horse races continue next weekend out at Evergreen Park and will feature their first ever Wiener Dog Derby on July 21.
