Six local operations to take part in Open Farm Days

Alberta Open Farm Days are set for August 17 and 18.

A half-dozen operations in the Peace will be taking part this year.

Star Bright Farms near Bay Tree will be offering caramel samples, hay rides, and tours of the pumpkin patch on Saturday.

Broken Tine Orchard and Alde Farms of Beaverlodge will be open both days. It has haskup berry ice cream and jams, wine tasting, and tours of its orchards and traditional crops.

Harmon’s Way Family Farm at Crooked Creek will offer horse drawn wagon tours both days of how animals make an eco-friendly farm. They will also offer samples of the sauerkrauts and kombucha they produce.

CJ Alpacas at De Bolt will have its farm store open both days and be having wool spinning demonstrations.

Armstrong Acres at Hythe will be showing how they raise their cattle and pigs and showing off their pastured egg layers both days.

Paradise Valley Honey Limited in Watino is offering tours and bee education on the Saturday.
