Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Grande Prairie area
A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect for the Grande Prairie area.
Environment Canada says that conditions are favourable for dangerous thunderstorms to develop, with the ability to produce strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain. These storms can also create flash flooding in some areas.
That warning extends through most of northern Alberta, starting at the B.C, border and going east to Lloydminster
They say severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that are capable of producing the above weather events. Warnings are then produced when the storm is imminent or ongoing.
