Another severe thunderstorm watch in place for Grande Prairie

Jul 23, 2019 | 12:00 PM

Update: The Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now ended.

Another severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Grande Prairie area late Tuesday morning by Environment Canada.

The watch is also in effect for the Valleyview and Beaverlodge areas. Watches are also in place for Fairview, Peace River, High Prairie, and Manning.

A thunderstorm was issued earlier for Hinton and Grande Cache. It was later upgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning, but is now a thunderstorm watch again.

These possible thunderstorms bring with them the potential to produce severe weather this afternoon and evening, including heavy rainfall, large hail and strong gusts of wind.

Environment Canada says to take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
