Rage take stranglehold in series with Stampeders

Jul 23, 2019 | 6:17 AM

After a weekend off the Wheatbelt Baseball League post-season resumed Monday night in Rycroft with the Rage hosting the Peace River Stampeders in Game 2 of their best-of-five series.

The Rage scored early and often in the contest.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top half of the first inning, the Rage would respond with 4 runs in the first and 3 in the second to take a commanding 7-2 lead.

Rycroft wouldn’t look back as they added 3 more runs in the bottom half of the fifth and walked away with a 10-3 win.

It was bit of a sloppy game for the visitors as they committed 6 errors in the loss.

The Rage now lead the best-of-five series 2-0 and will have a chance for a sweep Wednesday night back in Peace River in Game 3.

The other league semi-final will get underway Tuesday night as the County Brewers will host the Manning Mets in Game 1 of their best-of-five.

First pitch is slated for 7:45 p.m. from the Crosslink County Sportsplex.
