Suspects in northern B.C. deaths may be in Manitoba: RCMP

GILLAM, Man. – The search for two teenage suspects in the deaths of three people in northern British Columbia is stretching into northern Manitoba.

In a tweet, RCMP in Manitoba say they have reason to believe 19-year-old Kam McLeod and 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky were recently in the Gillam area.

The Mounties don’t say what has led them to that conclusion or when they believe the teens were in the community.

Gillam is about one-thousand kilometres north of Winnipeg with only one major road in and out.

Earlier today, police said the pair had been spotted in northern Saskatchewan and were driving a grey 2011 Toyota Rav 4.

Police say the teens should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.

The teens are suspects in the deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese, whose bodies were found along the Alaska Highway last week.

Police also suspect the teens in the death of an unidentified man found a few kilometres from their burned-out truck, more than 470 kilometres from the first crime scene.
