Brewers bats come alive in playoff opener

The County Brewers and the Manning Mets opened their Wheatbelt Baseball League semi-final series Tuesday night at the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

It couldn’t have been a better performance for the home side to kick off their playoff run as they earned a huge 10-0 win in the series opener.

Matt Atkinson pitched a complete game shutout and gave up just one hit and one walk in the win.

The Brewers now lead the best-of-five series 1-0.

They will look to take a stranglehold on the series Friday night when they travel to Manning to face the Mets in Game 2.

Meanwhile the other league semi-final between the Peace River Stampeders and the Rycroft Rage could wrap up this evening.

Rycroft leads the best-of-five 2-0 and will have a chance to punch their ticket to the league final when they travel to Peace River Wednesday night for Game 3.

First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
