Circus gets underway Thursday at Prairie Mall

Grande Prairie will welcome American Crown Circus and Circo Osorio for the first time this weekend.

Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, American Crown Circus and Circo Osorio continues their Canadian Tour this year, with Grande Prairie being their first stop ever in Alberta.

The American Crown Circus and Circo Osorio’s current president is Francisco Osorio, who says this years event will showcase worldwide acts.

“This year we’re featuring acts from Romania, we’re featuring acts from Russia, we’re featuring acts from Argentina, we’re featuring acts from Chile, Colombia, Mexico. So it’s an international cast from all over the world.”

The circus was originally founded by Osorio’s great-great grandfather in 1927 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and currently still tours in Mexico, along with the U.S.A and Canada.

American Crown Circus and Circo Osorio will be at the Prairie Mall at 11801-100 Street from Thursday to Sunday.

Dates and showtimes for this weekend include:

• Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
• Friday, July 26 at 5:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, July 27 at 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, July 28 at 3:30 p.m. & 5:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online, and will also be available onsite. The onsite box office opens one hour before all showtimes. The tickets from the box office are cash only, but there will be ATM machines onsite.

General Admission Tickets for those 11 years and older will be $25 before GST, and includes admission for 2 children 10 years and younger. Additional tickets for children 10 years and younger are $10 before GST.
