Murder charges laid, suspects still on the run

Canada-wide warrants have been issued for two B-C teenagers who had already sparked a manhunt, now that they’ve been charged in the death of a man near Dease Lake.

The RCMP says 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky and his longtime friend, 19-year-old Kam McLeod, have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Leonard Dyck of Vancouver.

Police initially had trouble identifying Dyck, whose body was found on a highway pullout about two kilometres from a burned-out truck and attached camper that police have said the teens were driving.

The teens are also suspects in the deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese, whose bodies were found four days earlier on July 15th along the side of a highway in northeastern BC.
