Charges awaiting man accused of setting fire to fuel nozzle after lottery ticket dispute

Jul 26, 2019 | 1:53 PM

Charges are pending against a man accused of setting fire to a fuel pump nozzle after a dispute over a lottery ticket at an Edmonton gas bar.

The store clerk and a witness say the man was upset about the ticket before he left the store yesterday afternoon and started the fire.

The clerk shut down the pump before the flames could spread, while arriving police officers used pepper spray to get the confrontational suspect handcuffed before he was taken by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say there was no major damage, and no one else was hurt.
