Taber RCMP investigating fatal collision that shuts down Highway-3

Taber – RCMP were called to a fatal two vehicle collision on Highway-3 at Range Road 61 around 12:45 Saturday (Aug 3) afternoon.

The incident location was about three kilometres east of Taber.

RCMP confirm a west-bound passenger vehicle on Highway 3, near Range Road 161, collided head-on with the east-bound tractor trailer unit.

Both vehicles were engulfed in flames and came to rest in the north ditch.

A 19 year old woman and lone occupant of the passenger vehicle died at the scene. The 65 year old man, the lone occupant and operator of the tractor trailer unit, was taken to hospital, and later released.

Traffic continued to be detoured around the area into the evening to facilitate the police investigation.
