High Level teen charged with first degree murder

A High Level teen has been brought into custody following the shooting death of another man.

18-year-old Jesse Beckles was arrested by RCMP on Saturday and has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Nathan Kim.

The incident took place on August 9 around 2:30 p.m., when officers were called to a report of a shooting near 105 Avenue and 98 Street, around the Maple Ridge Suites. Police found the victim’s body in an alleyway upon arrival. The victim died soon after.

An autopsy conducted at the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office concluded the death to be a homicide.

Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who had recent contact with Jesse Beckles or Nathan Kim to contact High Level RCMP at 780-926-2226, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
