A 14-year-old girl is facing a charge of arson after a school playground with chunks of recycled tires in its base was allegedly set on fire in Airdrie, Alberta.
A column of hazardous black smoke was rising from the playground when firefighters arrived at the scene at A.E. Bowers School shortly after seven Thursday evening.
No one was hurt and witness accounts led to the arrest of a suspect shortly after the blaze got rolling.
The girl is also charged with three counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
