WATER METER REPLACEMENT

Aquatera to replace water meters throughout Grande Prairie

Aug 17, 2019 | 7:00 AM

Aquatera will be replacing water meters throughout the city of Grande Prairie.

Water meters typically last about 20 years, and Aquatera replaces them at no cost to the property owner.

Aquatera has contracted Neptune Technology Group to replace meters due to age and required upgrades.

Neptune Technology Group will begin replacing meters this month, and all affected customers will receive a notice and pamphlet with more information.

Some benefits to the upgrades are high-resolution low-flow leak detection, more accurate readings and impact resistant register.

Sarah Martin, with Aquatera, explains what a property owner or resident can expect during the replacement process.

“So when a technician comes to a resident’s home to replace their meter, it will take approximately 30 to 90 minutes to complete the process. The technician will be required to turn off the water during the meter replacement but it will be turned back on as soon as the replacement is complete.”

Representatives have began contacting property owners to schedule replacement appointments.

Martin says it is important to schedule an appointment for a meter replacement.

“The meter replacement program is a mandatory program. If people fail to contact us and create an appointment to have their meter exchanged, then we will be required to turn off their service until they can make an appointment.”

The replacements are mandatory in accordance with the City of Grande Prairie Bylaw No. C-1365.

Booking an appointment online can be done here, or through calling 1-800-667-4387.
